The Tokyo Anime Award Festival announced that its next edition of Tokyo Anime Award Festival 2026 (TAAF 2026) is scheduled to take place from March 13 (Fri) to 16 (Mon), 2026, in the Ikebukuro area, Tokyo.

As an independent and evolved continuation of the Tokyo Anime Award, previously held as part of the Tokyo International Anime Fair from 2002 to 2013.
TAAF has been held since 2014 by the Tokyo Anime Awards Festival Executive Committee, the Association of Japanese Animations, and the Tokyo Metropolitan Government.
This year, the event will mark its 13th edition in 2026. The award festival aims to nurture new talent, promote the animation culture and industry, and support Tokyo’s tourism by showcasing the city’s charm under the slogan “TOKYO is the HUB of contemporary ANIMATION.”
The festival has presented high-quality, original anime works from around the world in Tokyo.

Additionally, the submissions for the competitions are now open. Eligible animation works must have been completed on or after January 1, 2024.
The competition is open to all nationalities, professionals, and amateurs.
Applications will be accepted until October 31 for short animations under 30 minutes, and until November 10 for feature-length animations exceeding 60 minutes.
The ‘Best Student Film’ award for Japanese student productions will also continue. More submission details can be found here.

Tokyo Anime Award Festival 2026 Tickets
Tickets for the Tokyo Anime Award Festival (TAAF) 2026, scheduled for March 13-16, 2026, aren’t on sale yet but will be available through the official TAAF website (animefestival.jp/ja/ticket/).
The ticket price for the TAAF 2026 ranges between ¥3,000 – ¥4,500 for film screenings.
You can also buy a passport for ¥4,500 and see the competition division movies. It includes four feature animations and three shorts with a total of 16 programs in all.
