55th Kerala State Film Awards
The 55th Kerala State Film Awards are scheduled to be revealed on October 31, according to reports. This year, a total of 36 films have reached the final stage after being shortlisted from a total of 128 submissions.
The final round of screenings includes a seven-member jury led by actor Prakash Raj reviewing the entities.

As in previous years, the veteran actor Mammootty has once again emerged as a frontrunner. His role in Bramayugam has been widely discussed as one of the standout performances of 2024, putting him in a strong position to win the award.
However, the veteran actor reportedly faces stiff competition from Asif Ali, who has had a prolific year with Kishkindha Kaandam, Level Cross, and Adios Amigo. Asif’s varied performances across these films have positioned him among this year’s most consistent actors.
Whereas Mohanlal has been shortlisted for his performance in Lijo Jose Pellissery’s Malaikottai Vaaliban. Other key contenders include Tovino Thomas for Ajayante Randam Moshanam (ARM) and Vijayaraghavan for Kishkindha Kaandam.
The Best Actress category also features a competitive lineup, including Shamla Hamsa’s performance in Feminichi Fathima has brought strong attention, while Shruti Jaya and Meera Vasudev’s work in Am Ah, along with Nazriya Nazim’s role in Sookshmadarshini, has made them leading contenders.
Apart from this, films reportedly in contention for the Best Film award include Brahmayugam, Feminichi Fathima, Am, Ah, and Victoria.
Two preliminary committees conducted the initial selection before this final evaluation. Actor Mohanlal’s directorial debut, Barroz 3D – Guardian of Treasures, along with his collaboration with Lijo Jose Pellissery in Malaikottai Vaaliban, has reportedly advanced to the final list.
While Mohanlal was recently honored with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, he is expected to be a strong contender for the Best Debut Director award for his work on Barroz.
