His debut was in a movie, which was Dil Bhi Tera Hum Bhi Tere. Dharmendra’s starring roles in action movies earned him nicknames such as “Action King” & “He-Man.”

His success continued through the 1960s and 1980s with hits such as Ankhen, Sholay, Dharam Veer, and Seeta Aur Geeta. He has done over 300 movies in his life and has received many awards and lifetime achievements.

Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival

Dharmendra Dadasaheb Phalke Award

For his 50-year acting career, which gave some evergreen action, drama, and thriller movies, Dharmendra was awarded by the President of India for his Outstanding Contribution to the Film Industry.

Sholey, Seeta Aur Geeta, Ayee Milan ki Bela, and many more movies that are evergreen. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest, most commercially successful, and best-looking film stars in the history of Indian cinema.

Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Nobel Award

In 2017, Dharmendra was honoured with the Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Nobel Award in Mumbai, hosted by the International Human Rights Council, for not only acting in cinemas but also being an inspiration to the next generation.

Dharmendra was an Indian actor and producer who mainly worked in Hindi cinema, or we can say he worked in Bollywood. He died on 24 November 2025 at his residence in Mumbai, at the age of 89, following an age-related illness.
