The Shortlist of nominees for the Mercury Prize 2025 was revealed yesterday on 11th September 2025, featuring a mix of established acts and rising stars. The 12th “Album of the Year” was announced by Lauren Laverne on BBC Radio 6 Music.

Among the nominated albums are Pulp’s comeback record More, Fontaines D.C.’s Romance, and Wolf Alice’s The Clearing.

The list also includes acclaimed works from PinkPantheress (Fancy That), Sam Fender (People Watching), CMAT (Euro-Country), FKA Twigs (Eusexua), and Pa Salieu (Afrikan Alien). Other nominees are Emma-Jean Thackray, Jacob Alon, Joe Webb, and Martin Carthy.

This year’s Mercury Prize Awards 2025 is scheduled to be held at the Utilita Arena in Newcastle on Thursday, October 16. The event marks a move from its traditional London location to the North East, as part of a new partnership aimed at celebrating regional talent.

Held annually to celebrate the work of both esteemed and emerging artists from the U.K. and Ireland, the Mercury Prize is awarded annually and recognizes artistic achievement in LPs across a range of genres.

Mercury Awards 2025 Winners List

The winners of the Mercury Prize Awards 2025 are yet to be announced, as the awards ceremony will take place at the Utilita Arena in Newcastle on Thursday, October 16.

The winner will be revealed at an awards ceremony held outside London for the first time, at Utilita Arena in Newcastle.

The gala will feature live performances from many of the shortlisted artists, culminating in the announcement of the 2025 Mercury Prize winners.

About Mercury Prize Awards

The Mercury Prize is formerly known as the Mercury Music Prize, is an annual music prize held annually to celebrate and honor the best album released by a musical act from the United Kingdom or Ireland.

It was founded by Jon Webster and Robert Chandler in association with the British Phonographic Industry and British Association of Record Dealers in 1992 as an alternative to the Brit Awards.
